Watercolor students will be immersing themselves in new application ideas, color theory and mixing techniques---as well as painting exercises to strengthen their brushwork and to learn new application methods-- taking their paintings to the next level.

LWAA members range from professional artists to retirees who have always wanted to learn artistic skills. All our teachers in this program are volunteers who are willing to share their expertise. Our classes run from one day "MAKE IT and TAKE IT", to 4 or 6 weeks in specific skills. All classes are designed for having fun, meeting fellow artists, and making new friends.

This workshop will cover techniques and methods for personal watercolor success, including improving and understanding DRAWING TECHNIQUES FOR WATERCOLOR as well as a FOCUS ON VALUES, COMPOSITION and COLOR THEORY/MIXING and varied watercolor application/blending techniques, including controlling water usage, creating textures and understanding their "Watercolor Toolbox".
Designed for students with a basic understanding of the watercolor medium who want to learn new techniques/approaches and strengthen their skills and confidence in their own works! (Intermediate Beginners to Advanced watercolor painters all welcome!) With live demonstrations and hands-on teaching, students will be completing finished watercolor paintings each day.

About LWAA Classes:
Hilary McCarthy is a contemporary figurative painter, currently adjunct faculty in the Fine Arts Department at Laguna College of Art + Design. Her work has been exhibited in numerous galleries in the United States and Europe. She received her BFA from Hartford Art School and her MFA from New York Academy of Art.
